Tools and Processes Show and Tell Guidelines

Abstract:

Prospect Researchers, Prospect Managers, Systems, and Analytics professionals use many tools and resources to get their jobs done.  After many months or years in a profession, people start to develop their own methods, tools, and processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and raise more money.  The FORUM is an opportune time to show others what you have learned by giving a short presentation.  The hope is for members to go back to their organizations and immediately be able to make an impact using what they have learned.  

Presentation Length: 

20 minutes including time for Q&A

Tools and Methods:

Tools used should be readily available for download so that others can reproduce them at their own institution.

Preferred Tools:
  • Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
  • Tableau
  • Python
  • SQL Server Express
  • Wealth Engine
  • iWave
  • DNB
  • Other widely used industry tools
What you should provide:
  • A step-by-step document available for download so others can reproduce results at their own institution
  • A presentation with images or a live, easy to follow demonstration
  • Enthusiasm

  • Segmentation that works for major gifts, annual fund, etc.
  • How to make a pivot table
  • Creating a research profile that your fundraisers will love
  • Expediting research requests
  • Auto-generating profiles
  • Data your fundraisers need and where to get it
  • Simple python programs to make life easier
  • How to quickly determine wealth capacity
  • Creating a macro in Excel
  • Ideal data layout in Excel for gift reports
  • How to send a lead that your fundraisers will love and follow up on
  • How to run a quick analysis in Excel
  • How to create a simple dashboard in Tableau
  • Using Access and Excel for wealth screening
  • Writing simple SQL using SQL Server Express

Completed presentations are due by: Wednesday May 3, 2017.
